Jay Skipworth is a tech-savvy entrepreneur, former telecoms engineer, and lifelong sports enthusiast who launched his first startup, Glluz, at the age of 60. Born in the small farming town of Inglewood, New Zealand, Jay overcame a childhood speech stammer through sport, music, and sheer determination. His early career saw him thrive in the telecommunications industry, building a reputation for persistence, adaptability, and innovative thinking.
After decades of professional experience—and a competitive streak that made him a four-time oyster-eating champion—Jay identified a gap in the sports tech market. Frustrated by the difficulty of finding local playing partners, he created Glluz: a community-driven sports app designed to connect people through shared passions for fitness and activity.
Fully self-funded and built from scratch, Glluz is a reflection of Jay’s vision for meaningful connection, physical and mental wellness, and digital empowerment at any age. Today, he’s not just building a business—he’s building a legacy, helping others turn bold ideas into real-world impact.
